4 Uncommon Ways to Save Yourself from Stress

The stress you can’t see or don’t feel is slowly killing you (or maybe not so slowly)!

I had a conversation with a friend this week and we asked each other:  Can you have stress without even realizing it?

After a little back and forth, we said — “Yes, absolutely”.

Constant low level stress is so sneaky that it shows up in your mind, body and vibrational energy for so long that you forget it’s there.  It becomes the default way you live.   You assume it’s - “just the way it is”.

Maybe you’ve said to yourself or a friend:

  • I’m so busy, I have to work 50+ hours a week just to keep up. I’m never *not* connected to my job.

  • I have to do more, so people won’t think I’m lazy.

  • I really only need 3-4 hours of sleep at night.

  • I can’t survive the day without coffee

  • Everyone over 40 feels exhausted and isn’t really that happy.  It’s just what happens…

  • I exercise my a**  off  and I still can’t loose weight.

  • If I’m not constantly doing more, pushing harder, working longer than everyone else, I won’t get the promotion I want.

Real talk — stress has you by throat and you don’t even realize it.    I see some of you just accept that this is how life has to be. Good news: It doesn’t have to!

Sneaky stress shows up as:

  • Brain fog

  • Feel exhausted and wired at the same time

  • Feeling overwhelmed or angry

  • Having a mind that won’t shut off (aka - monkey mind)

  • Back and shoulder pain

  • Can’t solve complex problems.

  • Putting everyone else’s needs and wants first ( and, you end up last )

  • Feeling resentful in relationships or with co-workers

I don’t want you to have to endure this low-level constant stress that is stealing your life and the career promotion you want, and the adventurous travel you want, and the amazing relationship you want.

Here are 4 uncommon changes you can make TODAY that make a big difference.

  1. Set a timer on your phone 3 times a day. When it goes off, spend 5-10 minutes in quiet without distractions and ask yourself “how do I feel” & “what do I need”.  You need to be able to understand how your body and mind are feeling and what you need to support yourself.  Or else, how can anything really change?

  2. Stop working out so hard. Running, HIIT and strength training routines are great, but it keeps cortisol high in your body which triggers your body’s stress signals. And cortisol will store fat — so you can’t loose weight.  Add yoga, Pilates, focused breathing or even a walk in nature into your week for balance.

  3. Decrease toxins in your personal care products and in household cleaners.   What you put on your skin absorbs into your bloodstream in less than 25 seconds. When you use products that have loads of icky chemicals, your liver gets overloaded and can’t detoxify them - leading to some of the problems we talked about.   Swap out what you use for “cleaner” brands. Not sure what to look for, just email me for some great suggestions.

  4. And finally, here’s the biggest secret that many other coaches/programs don’t focus on, but I think is absolutely the missing solution for stress — take your gut health seriously.   Eat pro-biotic rich foods like kimchi or fermented cabbage.  Each more whole foods (like lean meats/fish, vegetables, low sugar fruits).   Take a high quality probiotic supplement every day. Eliminate artificial sweeteners from your diet.

If you want to have a coach support, encourage and empower your wellness,  My 4 week small group program,  Tame Your Tension program, might be right for you!   This is not like other “stress management” programs you’ve done in the past. It’s a whole body-mind-energy approach to living with passion and vibrancy; instead of regret.
