What’s a Spiritual Practice?

There is a lot of talk today about spirituality, being spiritual and having spiritual practice.

I believe we are all spiritual beings.  We are connected to a Divine Source within nature. And whether you call that Source, Nature, God, Spirit or something else; I believe it’s all the same.  We are connected to a life-force energy greater than our human body.

A spiritual practice then is an activity that brings you closer connection to Nature, Spirit through our interconnectedness.

This interconnection means it’s within and around you.  Our wholeness. Our vibrancy. Our high vibrational energy.

When we feel frustrated, disharmonious, anger, bitter… this is a sign we’ve separated ourselves from this interconnection.

With compassion and curiosity you can find the activities that connect you back to this high vibrational life-force energy that’s in and around you.  It’s part of your true self. The authentic you.  The you who is joyful, satisfied, connected, compassionate and grounded.

In this higher vibrational connection, the light is let in to help us heal.

I know ‘heal’ is a big word that can carry different meanings for different people.

I used to confuse healing with cure. As in a doctor cured you of an injury or illness.  Healing is deeper and comes from within - not outside ourselves.  Healing is believing our interconnection with Spirit, our authentic self and to each other. It’s the discernment that deep inner knowing comes from within *not* outside ourself.

I know from my own journey, healing is not for the faint of heart.  It’s a willingness to be vulnerable. To open and explore with compassionate curiosity what’s not working in our life. And a belief and inner knowing that we’re meant for something more.  That we are worthy of vibrancy.

It’s not a quick fix but rather an ongoing conversation with the hurt parts of ourselves.  Cultivating self-compassion and self-love to see ourselves in new ways. To believe that we have the inner strength and inner knowing to love all parts of ourselves.  This is the path to healing and reclaiming our worth.

The spiritual practices that resonate with you when practiced over time with playful diligence will reconnect you to your authentic/true self.  It’s through this connection that stressful, disharmonious feelings begin to melt.  And you become more connected to the true you.

Allow the authentic true essence of you to be revealed. Not only for your own healing but the healing needed in our world. We all need you to shine brightly.
