2020 - a year to stop

2020 has been the year to stop!

Stop putting yourself last, stop settling, stop doing stuff you hate.

2020 has been an interesting year, for sure!  I’ve heard it called many things - horrible, a mess, crazy, dumpster fire .. or worse!

But maybe, it’s also an awakening… To start doing something differently.

Stop putting yourself on hold,  pushing your health and well-being off for “someday" or thinking a magic pill that will bring back your energy, vibrancy and health.

Inflammation is at the root of almost every disease.   But you have the control - you get to set the path for getting rid of your dis-ease and stop inflammation.

Here are 4 things you can *start* doing today:

  • Balance your intense workouts (like running and HIIT) with more restorative exercise like Yoga, Pilates, active stretching, walking. Intense workouts build up cortisol (stress hormone) in your body. And too much of it will keep inflammation high.

  • What’s on your fork!? Add anti-inflammatory foods like: olive oil, coconut oil, nut/seeds, wild caught fish. And decrease inflammatory foods like: sugar, artificial sweeteners, white flour, processed foods. Each time you put something on your fork (& in your mouth) you’re adding or decreasing inflammation.

Hippocrates quote from 2500 years ago is more important that ever today:

all disease begins in the gut.

  • Meditation. Taking even 2-5 minutes to calm your nervous system with mindful breathing or meditation has incredible benefits over time. Inflammation decreases, stress decreases and your complex thinking increases.

  • Toxins. We’re awash in toxins today - from environmental, to pesticides on foods, to ingredients in your skincare products. Reducing toxins will take the load off your liver, a main detoxifier.
