Color Your Way to Wellness

Learning to take cues from nature is an ongoing process ~

A fun place to start is with color!

Green, yellow and blue are 3 of my favorite colors. Here are a few ways to incorporate the colors, foods and energies into your day.

Read below for simple ways you can feel nourished both on and off your plate.

Add green to your insides so you can be clean inside.

Green represents the energy of abundance, growth and nourishment.

Green on your plate -

  • Detox. Eating your green veggies, like spinach, swiss-chard, broccoli, kale or cucumbers will help clear your skin. And also clean out your digestive system a bit ( think: easier to poop)

  • Energize. Veggies give you clean energy, leaving you feeling refreshed not jittery, or anxious.

Green off your plate -

  • Refresh. Walk barefoot in the grass and feel grounded in the earth.

  • Renew. Release limiting beliefs that are no longer serving you.

Yellow represents the energy of playfulness, joy and freedom.

Yellow on your plate -

  • Yellow veggies, like bell peppers, summer squash, mustard greens (although not technically yellow) protect your eyes and heart…. What’s more freeing than that?

Yellow off your plate -

  • Add yellow to your outfit!  Find your inner child playfulness and add a yellow shirt, dress or scarf.  Your mood will be bright and sunny just like the color!

Why act your age, when you can reverse the clock!   Add blue!

Blue-purple foods contain micro-nutrients that delay aging and may boost brain function.

Blue on your plate -

  • Blueberries

  • Purple potatoes

  • Red cabbage

  • Eggplant

  • Beets

Blue off your plate -

  • We all have the power to awaken our own inner healer.  Blue is a color that represents the energy of healing, trust and caring.

  • Tune in to your body’s innate intelligence by trusting your gut.  Check in with yourself during the day and ask - How do I feel? What do I need?   And then give yourself permission to give yourself what you need.

Playing with color both on and off your plate can add playfulness and lightness to a topic that’s usually more serious. Your health and wellbeing should be an enjoyable lifestyle and should be a little fun.. not drudgery!
